It’s a boy for Duggar daughter Jesss Duggar Seewald and her husband Ben! The new parents revealed on their family website as well as on TLC.com that their son is named Spurgeon Elliot Seewald.
Little Spurgeon’s name has BIG roots—he’s named after famed British preacher Charles Spurgeon (1824-1892) and martyred missionary Jim Elliot and his wife, renowned speaker and author Elisabeth Elliot.
Before giving birth, Jessa told PEOPLE magazine that she favored names “of heroes from the Christian faith.” Clearly she was not just blowing smoke!
Ben has said that Spurgeon’s teachings have had a huge impact on his life, and I’m guessing this new little Spurgeon has already had a serious impact as well!
What do you think of the new baby’s name? I love the sentiment, but…I’m kinda hoping they call him Elliot.
